The volunteers who established Owen County Friends of Animals, Inc. firmly believe in spaying and neutering pets. Each dog is spayed or neutered prior to adoption. It is a practical solution to overpopulation, a problem that OCFA sees every day as more strays trickle into the shelter. There are several organizations within driving distance of the shelter that provide low-cost surgeries.
Some benefits of spaying and neutering are listed below:
A dog or cat can be spayed to neutered as soon as 12 weeks of age, but some vets prefer to wait until six months of age. Please look at the resources below to find out how you can have your pet spayed without breaking the bank. Dog surgeries can cost as low as $65 and $35 for cats. (Please understand that these prices are subject to change.)
